Buenos Aires, Dec. 4, (dpa/GNA) – The United Nations cultural agency UNESCO has added 19 cultural practices to its list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
Among others, the new entries on the list include the Ukrainian art of decorating eggs, equestrian art from Portugal and the production of Jang – fermented sauces – in South Korea.
The Wosana rain-summoning ritual from Botswana and the Reog Ponorogo theatrical dance from Indonesia have been added to the list of intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent safeguarding.
The UNESCO intergovernmental committee is currently meeting in Paraguay’s capital, Asunción, where it will continue to deliberate on the list of intangible cultural heritage until the end of the week.
Around 60 cultural practices have been proposed, including the Chinese New Year and sake brewing in Japan.
