World Vision Ghana, Polytank sign agreement to provide clean drinking water

Accra, Nov. 19, GNA – The World Vision Ghana (WVG) and Polytank Ghana Limited, on Tuesday, signed an agreement to work collaboratively to enhancing access to safe clean water in some vulnerable communities in Ghana. 

The initiative will provide approximately 45,000 litres of water to some communities in Ahafo, Volta and Oti regions. 

The beneficiary communities include Asunafo and Goaso in the Ahafo Region; Aveyime in the Volta Region; and Nkwanta, Kenyase, Krachi Nchumuru and Kadjebi in the Oti Region. 

The year-long partnership seeks to promote public health, environmental sustainability and ensuring more resilient communities. 

At the signing ceremony in Accra, Mr Jean Claude-Mukadi, the WVG, Country Director, said the partnership marked a significant milestone towards enhancing the health and wellbeing of vulnerable communities across the country. 

“The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is more than a document but representing a commitment to improving public health and fostering more resilient communities. 

“The agreement aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Six, which is ensuring “clean water and sanitation for all,” Mr Claude-Mukadi stated. 

Mr Claude-Mukadi was of the conviction that the MoU would leverage the Polytank’s expertise in providing water storage solutions and the World Vision’s commitment to community empowerment, to make meaningful progress and transform lives in the vulnerable communities. 

Mr Girender Mohinani, the Head of Business, Polytank Ghana Limited, on his part, stated that the partnership aimed at enhancing access to clean drinking water for vulnerable communities, which aligned with the company’s core values of supporting households, institutions and communities with water storage solutions. 

As a leading water storage manufacturing firm in Ghana, Mr Mohinani said, it would provide 26 polytanks during the duration ot the agreement (one-year). 

The Polytanks would be installed strategically in schools, health centres and vulnerable communities to improve access to clean drinking water for the beneficiary communities. 

Mr Jean Claude-Mukadi, the WVG’s Country Director, signed on behalf of the World Vision Ghana, while Mr Girender Mohinani, the Head of Business at the Polytank Ghana Limited, also signed on his company’s behalf. 

Mr Joshua Baidoo, the WVG’s Integrated Programmes Director, said the partnership would transform lives and restore dignity to the beneficiary communities in Ahafo, Oti and Volta regions. 

The World Vision Ghana, a Christian relief not-for-profit advocacy organisation, focused on improving the living conditions of most vulnerable children, families and communities, and improving their general wellbeing. 

The NGO is currently operating in 14 out of the 16 regions of Ghana, providing water, sanitation and health (WASH) facilities to households, health centres and communities, impacting the livelihoods of over three million people. 

Meanwhile, Polytank Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of Mohinani Group, has set a high standard of manufacturing high quality plastics and durable water storage products. 

The company has operated in Ghana for more than 30 years.
