Takoradi, Nov. 12, GNA – The Western Regional branch of Ghana Red Cross Society has organised a peaceful election Health Walk to urge Ghanaians to uphold the current peace of the country.
The walk, which brought together some 1000 school children, youth and identifiable groups, was led by Dr Patrick Kobla Quist and Mr John K. Ahiable, Patrons of the society with the support of Mr Benjamin Acquah the regional manager.
Mr Benjamin Acquah, the Regional Manager of the Red Cross said the walk formed part of the preparedness plan towards the 2024 Presidential and parliamentary elections.
He said the Ghana Red Cross Society was the largest humanitarian organisation in Ghana.
The Red Cross had trained over 300 volunteers to render first aid services during the elections, adding that the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent had shown its commitment to supporting Ghana to have peaceful election.
Some participants carried placards with inscriptions: “We should have violence-free election, Politics should not divide us, United we stand, divided we fall, we love Ghana, we love Peace, Vote peacefully, Ghana First, cherish children, cherish peace”.
Dr Edward Donkoh, the National Vice President of Ghana Red Cross Society, advised all Ghanaians to value the peace.
“We need peace, we have one Ghana, we should protect our peace”.
There were a variety of activities like a first aid talk, health talk, dancing competition, singing competition, bouncy castle, musical chairs and many more.
