Takoradi, Nov. 12, GNA – The Wassa Amenfi Central District Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in the Western Region has engaged religious bodies in the district to preach peace before, during and after the December 7 polls.

Held on the theme: “Together we can build so get involved,” the engagement centered on how to ensure peaceful campaigns, political tolerance, money in politics, fighting dis/misinformation and tribalism among other topics.

Mr Anthony Kelvin Amoo, the Wassa Amenfi Central District Director of NCCE, speaking at separate engagements said inter-faith organisations played significant roles in promoting peace and unity among the citizenry, hence the essence of meeting them to ensure a violence-free 2024 elections.

He stated that religious tolerance was key in ensuring the development of the country so faith-based organisations must be ambassadors of peace in their communities.

Mr Amoo said, “without peace, we cannot develop our country so each one of us must get involved and spread the word of peace during this period where we need it the most.”

He urged the youth not to be used by politicians for their parochial interests by engaging in activities that could destabilise the country.

As part of efforts to ensure a peaceful election, the Wassa Amenfi Central NCCE in collaboration with the Business Advisory Centre in the district also organised a peace walk with the Hairdressers Association within the area to amplify the peace message among residents.
