Accra, Nov. 15, GNA – Virtual Infosec Africa, an information and cybersecurity solutions have handed over a state-of-the-art cybersecurity laboratory to the Presbyterian University, Ghana to Forster learning, innovation and research.
The 150,000 USD facility is a 25-seater capacity fully fitted with cutting-edge tools and technologies for real hands-on training in cybersecurity and technology studies.
Mr Emmanuel Sekyere Asiedu, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Virtual Infosec Africa, said the facility stood as a testament to the commitment of his outfit to empower the next generation of cybersecurity experts and strengthen Ghana’s position in the global cybersecurity landscape.
“In a world where cyber threats are constantly evolving, it is essential that we not only keep pace but also prepare our future leaders to do the same, we envision this facility as a hub where knowledge is shared, skills perfected and solutions developed to meet tomorrow’s digital challenges.”
As part of their commitment to academia, the CEO announced that the first 100 students enrolling at the University to pursue Computer Science or related courses would receive council certification voucher to pursue professional certifications such as Certified Security Operations Centre Analysts and Certified Cybersecurity Technicians at a total cost of 150,000 USD to be fully covered by his outfit.
Whiles thanking the University for the partnership, he expressed hope that the laboratory becomes a centre of excellence and resilience and the skills cultivated by the students would contribute to the digital security of the nation.
Professor John Ofosu Anim, the Vice-chancellor of the Presbyterian University, Ghana, said in an era where technology was not only shaping but revolutionizing every sector, cybersecurity had become one of the most critical disciplines for safeguarding information, infrastructure and national security.
This state-of-the-art facility brings the University one step closer to the vision of providing not just an education but a transformative experience that prepares students to be global citizens, agile and resilient in an increasingly digital world.
With this facility, the Vice Chancellor indicated that the University would be expanding its capability to offer hands-on experience and access to cutting-edge technology, tools and mentorship to excel in their studies.
He thanked Reverend Dr Nana Opare Kwakye, the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana and Chancellor of the University for the instrumental role he played in the partnership leading to the establishment of the facility.
