Takoradi, Nov. 05, GNA – The Western Regional Directorate of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), has recorded four suspected cases of cholera within Takoradi in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.
Dr Nana Yaw Ofori Yeboah, the Western Regional Director of the GHS, confirmed this to the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Takoradi.
He said there was no need for panic, adding that health officials were working closely with other stakeholders to contain the situation within the Metropolis.
He advised residents to regularly wash their hands with soap and water especially after visiting the toilet, and before, during and after cooking.
“We are also advising the people to bath and wash their clothes regularly, clean and disinfect toilets and surfaces with soap and treated water, and seek medical attention when they experience some common symptoms of cholera like vomiting and severe diarrhoea,” Dr Yeboah said.
