Summit of Arab and Islamic countries held in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, Nov. 11, ( dpa/GNA) – Representatives from more than 50 Arab and other Islamic countries are coming together for a summit in Saudi Arabia on Monday.

According to Saudi sources, the meeting in the capital Riyadh is set to address the “sinful Israeli aggression against the occupied Palestinian Territories and its expansion into Lebanon.”

A year ago, Saudi Arabia invited countries to a similar meeting. During that event, a committee of various ministers was established to work towards an end to the Gaza war. However, the initiative has shown no effect so far.

Israel is conducting a war against the militant Palestinian Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip alongside a conflict with the pro-Iranian Hezbollah militia in Lebanon.

Hezbollah has been attacking Israel for a year: according to its own account, it is supporting Hamas in the Gaza Strip, which in turn committed a massacre with more than 1,000 deaths in Israel on October 7, 2023.
