Sunyani, Nov. 15, GNA – Mr Ransford Antwi, the Sunyani East Constituency Independent Parliamentary Candidate in the 2024 Parliamentary Election has promised not to disappoint the constituents and pleaded for their votes on December 7.
He said Sunyani “deserves better” in terms of development, worrying that as a stronghold of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and a traditional parliamentary seat for the party, Sunyani remained under-developed.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani on his vision for the constituency, Mr Antwi advised the electorates to vote for him in the General Election, instead of voting on political party lines.
“We all desire the progressive development of Sunyani, and that is why we must change our voting pattern this time,” he stated, saying the electorates had since 1992 voted for the NPP, however “we can’t see anything in Sunyani that serves as a memorial from the NPP”.
Mr Antwi also the Chief Executive Officer of the Suncity Group of Companies, operators of the Sunyani-based Suncity Radio, indicated that the lack of standard sports stadium, children’s park and other recreational facilities was an indication that the government had failed the people of Sunyani and Bono Region by extension.
He said abandoned work on the construction of the Bono Regional Library in Sunyani, as well as deplorable access roads alone should inform the electorates that the NPP government had neglected the chiefs and people of Sunyani.
“You agree with me perfectly that the electorates here have since 1992 voted for the NPP and maintain the parliamentary seat as well, but we all cannot point at any major development project undertaken by the elephant party, and we must show the MP red card this time”.
As an indigene of Sunyani, Mr Antwi said the interest of the constituency override his perusal interest urged the electorates to support and endorse him for him to achieve his vision for the constituency, especially Sunyani.
