Passion for Needy supports retired staff of GNAT

Accra, Nov. 29, GNA – Passion for Needy, an NGO, has presented pharmaceutical products to support the health screening of retired Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Staff Association in Accra.

The medicines, worth over GHc 8,000, included 20 packs of bottled water to support the health of the retirees.

Mrs Janet Torgbor El-Aschkar, the Chairperson of the organisation, said the NGO made the presentation based on an appeal from the association to support their health screening exercise.

She said the organisation donated medicines to the La Development Institute in 2019 and the Osu Children’s Home in 2023 at their request for their health screening events.

She said as the government continued to put in measures to address the health of the elderly, the NGO believed that their support would complement to achieve the desired agenda.

The NGO, she said, since its inception in 2009, had provided support to various institutions and individuals.

“We have paid bills for patients who could not settle their bills at the Korle-bu hospital, Ridge Hospital, and Manna Mission Hospital at Teshie in Accra,” he said.

The organisation,he stated, had registered and provided over 200 National Health Insurance cards to the underprivileged at the Accra Rehabilitation Centre, Tenashie, primary school at Osu, Glife Community, and the Presbyterian JHS at Teshie.

Apostle Dr Vincent Adotey Addo, Chairman, Retired GNAT Staff Association, thanked the organisation for responding to their request to improve the health of their members.

He said the health screening was important because old age came with a lot of illness, which required regular checkups for medical attention.

Apostle Addo appealed to all to regularly visit the health facility for medical checkups to live longer.
