Asidowui (V/R), Nov. 01, GNA – The Kpogede Gate of the Tsiala Clan of the Agave Traditional Area, has out-doored a new chief, Torgbe Kporti III, and a queenmother, Mama Aborku II, at a colourful ceremony.
The event, held at Asidowui, in the South Tongu district of the Volta Region, was attended by traditional rulers, clan members, and citizens from far and near, and featured the coronation of Agbotadua Samuel Soli and two linguists for the new Chief and Queenmother.
The ceremony showcased the rich culture and tradition of the Agave State, with performances by the Wuga Troupe from Agorkpo.
Torgbe Kporti III, in his coronation address, emphasized his commitment to promoting peace and unity in the traditional area.
“I am dedicated to fostering an environment where development thrives, peace prevails, and unity flourishes, upholding and enhancing the legacy of our forefathers,” he stated.
The new chief identified peace as a pivotal factor in the development of the area, noting that disputes had hindered progress.
“Peace has eluded most communities in the Agave State due to chieftaincy and other disputes. I pledge my total support to the traditional leadership towards resolving all conflicts in the area and beyond.”
Mamaga Nyagadze III, Paramount Queenmother of the traditional area, reiterated the importance of unity and peace, saying, “The time has come to unite the chiefs and people of the Agave State and to iron out our differences for the mutual benefit of present and future generations.”
The inauguration of the Agave Traditional Council, with the Paramount Chief as its chair, is expected to resolve chieftaincy disputes and promote peace.
Awafia Sekpete III, Chief of Ashiagborkope Gonu, presented Torgbe Kporti III and his linguist, while Mamaga Nyagadze III, introduced Mama Aborku II and her linguist.
Mr Hayford Klutse, a retired educationist praised the event, urging support for the new chief.
“This is a spectacular moment for our community. We must rally behind Torgbe Kporti III to achieve peace, unity, and development.”
Torgbe Talifo II, Chief of Agbeve and Head of the Yelu Keteni Gate of the Tsiala Clan expressed gratitude to the Clan for honouring the family, clan, Asidowui Township, and Agave State.
He expressed optimism that Torgbe Kporti would operate an open-door policy, promoting development initiatives, peace, and unity in the traditional area.
