Awutu Bawjiase (C/R), Nov 12, GNA – Former President John Dramani Mahama has assured that the next government of the NDC under his leadership, will abolish the E-levy, Emission Tax, Betting Tax and COVID tax to move the country forward.
He gave the assurance during a mini rally organised by the Awutu-Senya-West NDC, to welcome him to the constituency at Apewosika Community Park at Awutu Bawjiase.
The event brought together, hundreds of members and supporters dressed in party colours who warmly welcomed the former President, Mr Mahama, the 2024 Presidential Candidate of the party and his entourage.
He expressed appreciation to the gathering for availing themselves from various communities as a family to listen to his messages of hope.
Highlighting his vision and plans for the constituency and the country, he said the 24 hour economy, the Big push, Women Development Bank, Human development programme, improvement of the Free Senior High School Policy, Free University Education for Persons with Disabilities and first year students of tertiary institutions, would be implemented to better the lots of Ghanaians.
He further assured Awutu-Senya West community members that the next NDC government would work in accordance with their vision and plans to put smiles on the faces of all persons residing in the area and not for families and friends.
“We are determined and committed to improve the Free Senior High School project, continue with all the NDC projects the NPP had abandoned which include the E-Blocks to eliminate the doub¹of le track system for more student to be enrolled, road network networks improved for free movement of goods and services and while housing projects made available for workers.
He said it was not true that when the NDC was voted again free SHS would be abolished and queried how a person who started the free progressive and compulsory education by the construction of several E-Blocks across the country, turn round to cancel it.
He called on the society to disregard such messages as frivolous and baseless, saying the NDC would review the free SHS and improve upon it to benefit many students.
He said that the government of the new Patriotic Party (NPP) had mismanaged the affair of the country and brought hardship on the citizenry, and it was time the electorate voted against them.
He then officially introduced Madam Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui to the constituents as the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for the December 7 election.
Madam Tetteh-Agbotui, earlier said the party was united and prepared to retain the Awutu-Senya West parliamentary seat and ensure that Mr Mahama was voted as the President in the December for development, fairness, and justice for all.
She sends a strong warning to persons who have planned to use all means to rig the elections in Awutu-Senya-West to eschew because they would not sit down aloof for such plans to be executed.
She advised her constituents to be focused and not to allow some dissidents to buy their integrity with monies and other materials to vote for them for their selfish gains saying ” you have tested and tried and have seen the works l have executed”, hence on December 7, to come out in their numbers to vote for the NDC to reset the damages the President Nana Akufo-Addo/Dr Bawumia led government has done to country for more development.
Among personalities who also address the gathering on the need to vote for the NDC were Madam Hannah Serwaah Tetteh former Foreign Affairs and Regional integration Minister and currently the United Nation (UN) special representative to Africa and Head of the UN office and Nana David Larbie former Ambassador and also former NP for the area, Prof Richard Asiedu Central Regional NDC Chairman and Nai Osaduo the Chief of Awutu Bawjiase.
The event was also graced by Queen mothers in the constituency led by Narchey Dordey Akaabi XlV Paramount Queen mother of Awutu Traditional Area.
Earlier in the day the youth embarked on float through streets of Bawjiase Township amidst singing the party songs, dancing to create awareness of the visit of former President Mahama and as their readiness to win the December 7 Presidential and the parliamentary elections.
