Sunyani, Nov. 11, GNA – Mr Benjamin Kyere, the Municipal Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), has advised citizens to always crosscheck information to prevent the spread of false information, in the run-up to the Election 2024.

He said misinformation undermined the nation’s electoral process, saying credibility and accuracy remained crucial in the growing trend of information flow.

Mr Kyere gave the advice when speaking at a sensitisation engagement meeting faith-based organisations organised the commission as part of its efforts to combat misinformation, disinformation, and hate speech in the electioneering.

Earlier, the commission undertook sensitisation on combating disinformation and misinformation at some churches, mosques, and prayer camps.

Mr Kyere emphasised that fact checks were essential to foster the culture of trust and accountability, saying, the legal consequences and implications of spreading fake news remained enormous.

He also advised the electorates to follow the voting process carefully and cast their ballots appropriately to control rejected and spoiled ballots in the elections.
