Sogakope (VR), Nov. 21, GNA -The Naval Training Command (NAVTRAC) at Nutekpor in South Tongu in the Volta Region under the auspices of the South Tongu Municipal Assembly has organised a stakeholder engagement to foster growth and progress.
The aim of the engagement, among other things, was to introduce the Command and its activities to the communities within their catchment areas.
Mr Innocent Tetteh, the Municipal Chief Executive for South Tongu during the encounter urged them to accept and support the Command to enhance their work.
Commodore Asiedu-Larbi, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) at NAVTRAC, charged the various communities to see the Command as their own and urged them to partner with the Command for the mutual benefit of all.
Commodore Asiedu-Larbi also outlined some of the Command’s activities, including some development projects within the base to the stakeholders.
Stakeholders during the interaction, requested a quota for enlistment and recruitment into the Ghana Navy for members of the communities under which the Command operates and called for more of such engagements.
The Engagement brought together Paramount Chiefs from Vume and Fieve, opinion leaders, some businessmen and women, and other identifiable groups such as Market Women, Transport Unions, Political parties, and Municipal Directors of Public Institutions.
Present was Mr Ken Dzrasa, former Deputy Speaker of Parliament and former Member of Parliament for South Tongu, who is also an opinion leader as well as members of the Municipal Security Committee.
