National Security embarks on campaign tour to sensitise public on security consciousness

Kumasi, Nov. 28. GNA – The National Security (NS) has embarked on a campaign tour in some parts of Ashanti region to sensitise the citizenry to be security conscious to prevent possible terrorist attack.  

The campaign dubbed “See Something, Say Something”, was to ensure that public safety and security becomes a shared responsibility.  

Madam Akosua Dankwah Ntim Sekyere, Lead member of the campaign team,  said these when they toured the various Senior High and Technical Schools in the Sekyere East District, Kumawu Diistrict, Juabeng and Ejiso Districts.  

They also met the various Stakeholders to put their message across.  

This campaign tour which climaxed their tour of the whole country was to empower students to be conscious about their environment and report any person with suspicious behaviour.  

She said that the countries that shared borders with Ghana such as Burkina Faso, Mali, and Togo had all expressed disturbing terrorist attacks and Ghana could be their next target.  

She said, it was therefore critical to put in stringent moves to protect the country from them.  

Terrorist, she said were against western education and so students must be involved in the combat readiness against them and be careful on Social media because terrorists were all over there.  

Mr. Samuel Akoto, member of the team, said the campaign bothered on peace, security and the protection of the country.  

He said that West Africa had been the target of the groups and so there was the need to take proactive measures to ensure that stakeholders joined the security agencies to protect life and property.  

He called on the citizenry to not entertain strangers and also not put the law in their own hands during citizen arrest.  

Mr. Jacob Amoak, also a team member of the campaign advised the students to report strange people and strange activities on their campuses to the school authorities.
