Ho, Nov. 07, GNA – Nana Kwame Bediako, Flagbearer for the New Force, one of the parties contesting in next December’s election, has called on the youth vote him into power to Ghana’s economic freedom.
In what could be considered the stage craft of revolutionary leaders, the Flagbearer addressed a large gathering of youth on his vision for the country.
Mr. Bediako outlined Ghana’s present socio-economic situation, which he said had worsened, and claimed the country risked further deterioration if left in the hands of the present crop of leaders.
The Flagbearer said he represented a new era of youth leadership, and which would provide the opportunity to spur Ghana’s economic growth.
Mr. Bediako asked the young generation to draw strength from his triumph through the political and electoral process and said he would remain a pillar of hope and resilience for the nation’s youth.
“They always thought that the young people will never ever get into the political industry and change the face of it. But now we are changing it,” he said, to loud cheers from the crowd.
The Flagbearer promised equal opportunities for all.
“Can you picture Ghana, a year from now, with young ministers, with young presidents, with young voices, with young strength and with young energy, making Ghana strong again, making Ghana stand up again? Making Ghana be built again? Just picture that.
“The one thing that I have that I think is wealth is courage. Because many people had been sitting down for a long time, they were scared to say it, they were scared to stand in front of someone.
“You know, to get a job even you have to belong to a party – which party are you from before they give you the job, where are you coming from, what tribe are you before they give you the job. Let’s change this kind of living. Let’s change this kind of governance.
“Let’s change this kind of leadership. Let’s stand up and build Ghana all over again,” he said, as crowds chanted “Cheddar! Cheddar!”
Mr. Bediako shared with the youth the twelve pillars on which he would build his presidency, and which he said provided a better alternative to political party manifestos.
He said the New Force continued to appreciate challenges facing the country as it deepened its national campaign tours, and that with its army of young leaders, it would be better positioned to secure a better future.
The Flagbearer questioned the spate of joblessness amid abundant wealth, and said his government would establish a new order of leadership that would grow the economic base of the country.
“I want you to be rest assured that yesterday’s problems are going to become tomorrow’s opportunity. I can promise you not money, not roads, not lands.
“But I can promise you a future of hope. I can promise you economic freedom. I can promise you a successful future. I can promise you a better tomorrow. I can promise you the things that are guaranteed for us that we cannot get.
Mr. Bediako shared plans for the Volta Region, where he had been on a weeklong tour, saying the estimated US$192 billion economic potential there would be developed to benefit the people.
Mr. Bediako spent time after his address meeting youth groups and Persons with Disabilities and sharing his party’s paraphernalia.
