Ada Foah, Nov. 22, GNA – Ms Irene Naa Torshie Addo, the Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), has appealed to widows and the electorate in the Ada Constituency to vote for Ms Dornukie Naa Norteye, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Ada parliamentary candidate.
Ms Addo said hope and a new chapter for the development of Ada will be opened if the candidate is given the chance to win the December 7 general elections.
She made the appeal when she engaged widows in the constituency, expressing her condolences for the loss of their husbands.
She noted, and said she believes that the prayers of widows and orphans attract God’s attention, hence her decision to seek their intervention on behalf of the candidate.
Ms Torshie, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), disclosed that her visit was purposely to ask the widows for prayers and appeal for a peaceful election.
Naa Torshie said: “God is now the husband for the widows, and so I came to ask them for prayers and blessings for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Dornukie Naa Norteye.
“I see victory, but when you see it, you must establish it, and that’s why we are approaching the widows, orphans, church leaders, Muslim leaders, and all those who can intercede for peace in Ghana and then for victory.”
Expressing satisfaction about the NPP’s choice of the candidate for the Ada Constituency, she described Ms Norteye as “lovely, beautiful, intelligent, and humble; so, I’m appealing to you to vote for my daughter, and you won’t regret it.”
Ms Norteye, on her part, reiterated that Dr. Bawumia was poised to cater for the widows, hence the need to vote for him to become president.
She expressed strong belief that for the first time, the people of Ada would put politics aside and vote for the one who would facilitate the development of the constituency.
She also appealed to her followers to eschew violence or insults before, during, and after the elections.
“We are left with a few days until the elections, and so I’m appealing to you as a daughter; I know that you won’t disappoint me. I know you are there for me. My hope is in you, and I am committing myself in your presence that I am not going to let you down. I will account to you and consult you before I do any project,” she said.
She said they should remember her and Dr. Bawumia on December 7 at the polls, asking for their prayers, advice, and protection, as she could not do without their support.
The widows, numbering about 1000, were each given a cloth, a T-shirt, and an undisclosed amount of money in an envelope to support their livelihood.
Some of them expressed gratitude for the gesture and held a short prayer session for the parliamentary candidate.
Ms Torshie was accompanied by Mr. Divine Otoo Argohom, Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the NPP, Ms Sarah Dugbakie Pobee, the Ada East District Chief Executive, and other party executives from both the region and constituency.
