Kasseh-Ada, Nov. 01, GNA — Soldiers from the Ghana Armed Forces on Thursday led a clean-up exercise in Kasseh in the Ad East District, helping residents to keep the community clean and healthy.

The exercise organised by Mr Ebenezer Tetteh Kpodo, Assembly Member for the Kasseh electoral area, focused on desilting some major drains and the sweeping and collection of garbage in key areas of Kasseh, which is the busiest community in the district.

Residents and non-residents, including the youth, market women, drivers, Okada riders, artisans, and others, all participated in the clean-up exercise.

The clean-up, which started from the Kasseh Lorry Station, was carried out at the Kasseh Clinic, police station junction, Amlakpo Junction, and the mini mosque at the Sogakope Station.

The soldiers encouraged Okada riders in the vicinity to join in, making the clean-up more impactful.

Participants praised the well-organised exercise, stating it was a strong stand against the recent cholera outbreak in Ada, adding that the united effort highlighted the community’s commitment to a cleaner environment.

Mr Ebenezer Yaw, an Okada rider from Togbloku Okor, a nearby community, after being stopped by the military men to partake in the exercise, said, “I was not offended by the approach of the security personnel though; I felt like I have been being ambushed.”

Mr. Ebenezer Tetteh Kpodo, the assemblyman, explained that the military presence was not to intimidate but to show support for the community’s health as the soldiers volunteered to help fight cholera in Ada.

He expressed gratitude to everyone, especially the military, for their support, noting that collective efforts like these build community pride and responsibility.

He urged the residents to continue keeping their environment clean, at least every Saturday, to ensure they win the fight against cholera.
