Dambai (O/R), Nov 11, GNA – Dr Mavis Amfo, the Medical Superintendent of the Dambai Health Centre, Krachi East Municipality of the Oti Region, has appealed for human resource support for the Centre to effectively handle its growing patient load.
She highlighted the Health Centre’s struggles with staffing shortages, citing the urgent need for more healthcare professionals to ensure quality care.
Addressing stakeholders during the commissioning of a theatre for the facility, Dr Amfo said it served a vast population including residents of Krachi East and surrounding districts, however, the facility operated with skeletal staff compromising patient care.
Having more doctors, nurses, midwives and other healthcare professionals would help provide comprehensive care for the patients, she said, and urged the Government and benevolent organisations to construct quarters for staff.
She said that would provide convenient and secured accommodation for health professionals to enable them to respond promptly to emergency cases, especially at night.
Dr. Amfo called on traditional authorities and organisations to identify affordable housing options for staff to attract and retain skilled professionals.
She reiterated her appeal to the Ministry of Health, Ghana Health Service and the Local Government Service to prioritise the construction of a dedicated accident and emergency (A&E) unit among other specialised units like ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat), Dental and Eyecare for comprehensive healthcare delivery.
