Akyekyerekrom (Ash), Nov, 21, GNA – Residents of 27 communities in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti region are in a jubilant mood, following the installation of electricity in their communities.
The long-awaited dream has brought immense joy to the people, who have credited their Member of Parliament, Mr Yaw Frimpong Addo, for spearheading the initiative to connect them to the national power grid.
They have also hailed the Vice President, Dr Mahammudu Bawumia, for the immense support which ensured the realization of the project.
The communities are Akyekyerekrom, Groso, Manukro, Yaw Kasa, Brikyakrom, Tabosere, Abroad, Kojo Nsiekrom, Dukra, Krosokitiwa, Nkanika and other adjoining villages.
The residents are optimistic about the significant impact the development will have on their lives, including improving education, healthcare delivery, and economic activities.
Some residents, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency, during the commissioning of the electricity project at Kyekyerekrom, praised the MP, Mr Frimpong Addo, who is also the Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture, for his relentless efforts which ensured that the electricity project became a reality.
They also acknowledged the support of the government and Vice President Bawumia, whose commitment to rural development had transformed many underserved areas across the country.
The connection of these communities to the national grid forms part of the government’s broader initiative to provide reliable electricity access to rural areas to enhance development and reduce poverty.
Mr Yaw Frimpong Addo, addressing the gathering to mark the occasion, reaffirmed his commitment to working with the government to address the needs of his constituents.
He pointed out that the electrification project was a game-changer, and urged the residents to take full advantage of the opportunities it presented to transform their socio-economic lives.
The milestone comes as a significant boost to the Amansie South District, where many communities have, for decades, lived without electricity.
