Kwadaso (Ash), Nov. 23, GNA – The Kwadaso Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), has appealed to Ghanaians, especially sympathisers of political parties to work together towards protecting the country’s peace.
The NCCE said it was important for political party activists and members to be tolerant of each other and avoid activities that could plunge the country into confusion.
Ms Mavis Achiaa Opoku, the Municipal Director of NCCE, made the call at a parliamentary candidates’ dialogue organised by the Commission for parliamentary candidates in Kwadaso.
The dialogue provided an opportunity for the candidates to engage the electorates on their vision to develop the constituency when given the nod to represent them in parliament.
Three parliamentary candidates are vying for the Kwadaso constituency parliamentary seat, and only two participated in the exercise.
They were Professor Kingsley Nyarko, the Incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Mr Eric Asibey, National Democratic Congress (NDC), and Mr David Kwasi Adongo, Peoples National Convention (PNC).
The Incumbent MP could not honour the invitation.
Ms Achiaa Opoku stressed the need for political parties to embark on a clean and violent-free campaigns which would aim at convincing electorates.
She called on Ghanaians to contribute their quota towards a peaceful election before, during and after the elections.
The NDC candidate, in his engagement with the electorates, elaborated his plan to work with relevant stakeholders to bring the needed development to the constituency.
Mr Asibey noted that the NDC was committed to pursue initiatives that would boost the economy and create job opportunities for the unemployed youth in the constituency.
According to him, it was time the people of Kwadaso gave him and the NDC the opportunity to lead them and provide them with better leadership to bring development.
The NDC and PNC candidates pledged to uphold peace and entreated their followers to embrace peace before, during and after the elections.
Mr. Adongo charged political party leadership to be proactive in ensuring the elections were peaceful and incident-free.
