Accra, Nov. 11, GNA — Mr Inusah Issifu, the 39-year-old Krowor Municipal 2024 Best Farmer, has attributed his success in agriculture to the continuous training programmes offered by the Krowor Municipal Assembly (KroMA).
Mr Issifu, a hard-working farmer with over 20 years of experience and eight permanent workers, said the regular training sessions had transformed his farm into an award-winning enterprise.
He told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that he managed a diverse farm with crops and livestock, all of which had thrived due to his commitment to lifelong learning, revealing that he would be venturing into fish farming.
He explained that the training programmes helped him adopt new technologies, enabling him to expand his farm and enhance his financial management and record-keeping significantly.
The Municipal Best Farmer noted that learning how to manage farm finances and keeping accurate records had helped him track his profits and control costs, expressing his gratitude to the KroMA and encouraging other farmers to take advantage of the training programmes.
He emphasised that his farming journey demonstrated the positive impact of continuous learning on farming and appealed to the assembly to organise more educational programmes for the farmers.
Ms Elizabeth Tapang-Tettey, the Director of Agriculture, KroMA, said the assembly had organised numerous training sessions for local farmers.
She mentioned that the programmes covered various farming techniques, such as sustainable soil management, pest control, and improved irrigation methods, saying that emphasis had been placed on climate-smart agriculture to help farmers adapt to changing weather patterns that increasingly impact yields.
She explained that as part of modernising agriculture, the assembly had introduced farmers to improved seedlings, which had increased their productivity.
