Kpando (V/R), Nov. 24, GNA – A voluntary group, Kpando Gadza Women Association, has been inaugurated in Kpando in the Volta Region to equip members with skills to improve their standards of living.

The Association with a current membership of 86 had already began producing ointments, shower gel, liquid soaps and hair balms which are awaiting registration with the Ghana Standards Authority.

Mama Kodzogasi II, Queen of Kpando Gadza and Founder of the Association, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), disclosed that the Association was formed to help members gain skills and employment to better their lives.

She said it was the hope that the output and products of the Association would attract more members despite the small population of the town.

Mama Kodzogasi said she had already engaged the young people of the town to avail themselves to be equipped, which went down well with some of them.

She noted that finance was a challenge of the Association since it could not levy members, adding that an NGO had supported them with capital.

Madam Courage Bernice Bani, Physiotherapist Assistant, Margret Marquart Hospital, Kpando, educated women on handling pain in appropriate ways that could not endanger their health and lives.

She said although there were local remedies in handling pain, visiting a health facility was necessary.

Madam Precious Kugblenu, Physician Assistant at the Kpando Gadza Clinic, said menopause was a period of 12-months cessation of blood flow, adding that menstruation after the period was referred to as post-menopausal bleeding which was abnormal.

She said the menopause stage was associated with hot flashes, loss of interest in sexual activities, mood swings, inability to conceive, increased risk of osteoporosis, weight gain and lack of concentration.

Madam Kugblenu said females in the menopause stage needed to modify their lifestyle such as reducing smoking, alcohol and intake of spicies.

Mr Samuel Kodzosika, Independent Parliamentary Candidate for the Kpando Constituency, said empowering women groups in the Constituency was a key priority of his development agenda.

He said the role of women in all spheres of the economy could not be underrated hence the need to give the mandate to an efficient and efficient candidate and not a party-based vote.

Mr Sebastian Deh, National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Kpando, said the state of the nation had gone beyond repairs hence the only way out was to vote for Mr John Dramani Mahama.

He urged constituents to take the 2024 general elections as a communal labour and vote for the presidential and parliamentary candidates of the NDC.

The executives of the Association are Madam Genevieve Nutsu, President, Mr Prosper Akpo, Secretary, Madam Doh Gloria, Organizer, Madam Amemakuse Mawuse, Assistant Organizer and Madam Nyasem Happy, Porter.

Kpando Gadza is predominantly a farming community.
