Kikis Court Fan Club supports Akrofu Community with sanitary pads

Akrofu (V/R), Nov. 05, GNA – Kikis Court Fan Club (KCFC), a social networking group has supported the Akrofu community in the Ho Central Municipality with over 500 packs of sanitary pads.

Period hygiene remains tied to affordability, and for girls in most communities, affording a menstrual pad is a persistent challenge.

In that regard the Fan Club has established a Founders Menstrual Pad Project, which is a five-year programme to contribute to menstrual hygiene and the donation was part of activities to commemorate the annual Akrofu Yam Festival

Mr Christian Donkor, the Founder, Kikis Court Fan Club, said a ‘Pad bank,’ would be established to help sustain the initiative.

“The primary focus is for like-minded individuals from all walks of life to unite and reach out to communities, giving back to help women and young ladies,” he said.

Mama Akua Sabea Nyabor, the Paramount Queen of Akrofu, who is a friend of the club, expressed her appreciation for the support, and said she was looking forward to more rewarding collaborations for women and youth in the community.

Kikis Court Fan Club was established in the year 2020 and has a present membership of more than 250.

The Founder, latter in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said that the menstrual pad project would solicit support from corporate organisations, to help young girls to stay in school.

He commended members and non-members who contributed towards the project, saying “We hope that it will go a long way to serve them well and encourage others to support”.

The 2024 Akrofu Yam Festival brought together natives of the of the popular farming community both home and abroad.

There were activities including heath talks, free screenings, cultural displays and cooking competitions with the overall aim of enhancing women empowerment within the community.
