Accra, Nov. 6, GNA – The rate of inflation rose to 22.1 per cent year-on-year in October from 21.5 per cent in September, the Ghana Statistical Service said on Wednesday.
This means that in the month of October 2024 the general price level was 22.1percent higher than October 2023.
Month-on-month inflation between September and October 2024 was 0.9 percent.
Professor Samuel Annim, the Government Statistician at a press briefing, said the Consumer Price Index for October 2024 was 237.8 relative to 195.2 for October 2023.
He said food inflation contributed 22.8 per cent to all inflation compared to last month’s food inflation
of 22.1 per cent with the month-on-month food inflation being 0.3 per cent.
Meanwhile, non-food inflation also contributed 21.5 per cent, compared to last month’s non-food inflation of 20.9 per cent with the Month-on-month being 1.4 per cent.
Inflation for imported items was 16.3 per cent compared to that for locally produced items, which was 24.6 per cent.
On the regional Inflation basis, the Upper East Region recorded the highest inflation rate of 42.0 per cent with the Eastern Region recording 18.3 as the lowest regional inflation.
