Inauguration of newly established LoGSAPP sets for November 23 in Sunyani

Sunyani, Nov. 15, GNA – All is set for the inauguration of the Local Government Service Association of Physical Planners (LoGSAPP), Mrs Gifty Nyarko, an interim executive member of the Association has said.

She said Sunyani would host the inauguration which would coincide with the maiden conference aimed at facilitating a sustainable urban development planning in the country.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, Mrs Nyarko highlighted the importance of the nation advancing her development by building liveable cities through participatory Land Use Planning.

The inauguration and conference are scheduled Saturday November 23, 2024, and to be held at the University of Ghana’s College of Education Learning Center in Sunyani on the theme “the role of participatory land use planning in building liveable and resilient cities”.

Mrs Nyarko said the event further sought to enhance the capacity of physical planners within local government services and to promote effective service delivery saying that would focus on sustainable urban development, participatory planning, and the critical role of physical planners in shaping resilient and liveable cities.

The conference would also create a platform for physical planners to engage with experts, policymakers, and other stakeholders to discuss challenges and explore innovative solutions for urban planning.

In another interview, Mr Kwabena Asiedu-Bediako, an interim member of LOGSAPP also stated that the “the conference will serve as a significant milestone in our efforts to professionalize the role of physical planners within Ghana’s local governance framework”.

It would further highlight the importance of community involvement in the land use planning process to ensure the creation of inclusive, sustainable, and resilient cities for future generations and offer an invaluable opportunity for professional development and knowledge sharing among physical planners nationwide.

Mr Asiedu-Bediako called on the various Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to support their physical planners to participate in the conference.

The conference would see the election of national executives and the presentation of LoGSAPP’s mission, vision, and strategic objectives.
