Ho, Nov. 21, GNA – Mr George-Ramsey Benamba, Head of Sub/Home Desk, Ghana News Agency (GNA), has urged reporters in the Volta and Oti Regions to fact-check for authenticity of information during the 2024 general elections.
He said reporters had the responsibility to cross-check information that they received from credible sources to ascertain their legitimacy.
Mr Benamba speaking during a training workshop to prepare reporters of the Agency in Ho, urged them to also balance their reports by giving voice to all minority political parties contesting in the elections.
He urged the participants to follow laid down procedures at voting centres and desist from ‘alarming’ reports.
Mr Maxwell Awumah, Volta/Oti Regional Manager, GNA said the Team was prepared for the upcoming elections in the two regions.
He urged participants to adhere to ethical journalistic practices when reporting on the electoral process to uphold and promote the credibility and objectiveness of the GNA brand in the media.
“Avoid a ‘headmaster posture’ at the polling stations and navigate out of trouble as there is life after the general elections.”
Mr Awumah urged the participants to identify hot-spots and ensure that they took the necessary measures to stay safe.
The participants expressed gratitude to the Management of GNA for the training, while hoping that some concerns regarding their outputs would be urgently addressed.
