Fijai (W/R), Nov. 12, GNA – The 1998-year group of the Fijai Old Students Association (FOSA) has handed over a pergola to the school as part of its 25th Anniversary celebration.

The celebration was on the theme: “Overcoming challenges, building resilience, and sustaining excellence through education: The role of the class of ’98.”

Mr Francis Hooper, President of FOSA ’98, speaking at the commissioning of the project, said it was a shared commitment that had inspired them to give back to the school that had shaped them to become what they were now.

He said the group recognised the need for a dedicated area on campus where students could engage in extra-curricular activities for their overall personal growth.

He said: “This pergola is more than a structure; it is a gift of space and opportunity, where parents and guardians can have a welcoming place of visitation, and where clubs and community groups can gather, learn and thrive.”

Mr Hooper believed that the facility would not only provide a space for gathering, but a place of growth symbolising the group’s commitment to the continued development and success of Fijai Senior High School.

He expressed gratitude to the FOSA ’98 members for their unwavering support and sacrifices that ensured that the project saw the light of day.

Mr Hooper urged the school’s management to ensure proper maintenance of the structure, saying “It is our hope that future students and teachers alike will cherish this space and that, with proper care, it will serve an enduring symbol of our love and support for our school.”

Mr Kenneth Agbomadze, the Headmaster of Fijai SHS, congratulated the FOSA ’98-year group on their 25th Anniversary, and applauded them for celebrating with the construction of the pergola for the school.

He pledged his commitment to ensure that the edifice was properly maintained and put to good use.
