Ejisu NCCE creates platform for parliamentary candidates to interact with electorates

Ejisu (Ash), Nov. 20, GNA – The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) will continue to discharge its mandate effectively by educating the public to actively take part in the country’s democratic dispensation. 

 Mr Eric Asare Nene, Ejisu Municipal Director of NCCE, who stated this, said active participation of the people in the democratic process was the surest way to strengthen and sustain the country’s democratic journey. 

He was speaking at a parliamentary dialogue organised by the NCCE for parliamentary candidates in the Ejisu constituency. 

The aim was to create a platform for the candidates to dialogue and interact with the electorates, share their visions, and answer questions that bordered on the development of the constituency. 

It also afforded the electorates the opportunity to abreast themselves with some of the electoral rules and procedures, as well as how to conduct themselves and cast their ballots on the election’s day. 

Among the candidates who attended and shared their vision with the electorates were Mrs Esther Osei, of the CPP, Okai Kwame, an independent candidate, George Gyapa, also an independent candidate, Joseph Fredua Agyeman, another independent candidate and Kwabena Boateng, of the NPP. 

They shared their visions on education, health, tourism, road infrastructure, peace, and security in the constituency. 

They pledged to work to conduct themselves well to ensure peaceful elections before, during and after the elections. 

According to the candidates, peace was critical to the promotion of development in the constituency and called on their supporters to conduct themselves in a manner that would not create tension and escalate violence in the area. 

Mr S.O Frimpong, the Municipal Chief Executive thanked the NCCE for bringing the aspirants together to interact and share their vision with the electorates. 

He said the election was an idea and not for war and called on the people to desist from any act that could jeopardize the peace of the area.
