Accra, Nov. 10, GNA— Mr. Stephen Abamfo, the Greater Accra Regional Director of Education, has urged the youth to become advocates for justice and active contributors to the growth and stability of Ghana.
He said that the voices, perspectives, and actions of young people, regardless of their background, had the potential to shape the nation’s future and create a society where all Ghanaians can work together in harmony.
Mr. Abamfo made the remarks during the 5th Graduation Ceremony of Mysteek College of Broadcasting and Journalism in Accra on Saturday.
He said that that vision could be achieved through commitment, courage, and a steadfast dedication to a shared vision of progress.
The ceremony was on the theme: “The Ghanaian youth as a major stakeholder in shaping the national conversation to promote peace, unity, and development.”
Over 100 students, who had completed various academic programmes such as Journalism, Fashion Design, Cosmetology, and others, graduated during the ceremony.
Mr. Abamfo reminded the graduands that “to whom much is given, much is expected,” and urged them to use the knowledge and experience they had gained to tackle Ghana’s pressing challenges.
He urged them to build bridges across societal divides, promote understanding among communities, and be agents of peace and unity to drive the nation’s development.
Mr. Abamfo acknowledged that the path ahead may not always be easy, but he emphasized that young people possess a unique blend of resilience, idealism, and the ability to innovate.
He urged the graduates to remain confident in their ability to make meaningful contributions to society, to be courageous in their pursuit of truth and justice, and to be compassionate as they work to bridge divides and foster lasting peace.
Mr Abamfo also reassured them that they would have the necessary support to navigate through life.
“As educators and leaders, we remain committed to supporting you every step of the way.
“I am committed to an educational system that equips our youth not only with academic excellence but with values that inspire constructive dialogue, mutual respect, and civic responsibility.
“We will continue to work towards an educational system that empowers young people like you to be advocates for peace and unity, laying the groundwork for a prosperous Ghana,” he said.
Mr. Emmanuel K. Okyere, Rector of Mysteek College said the youth were the drivers of Ghana’s progress, adding that their energies and creativities were essential in driving positive change.
He charged them to embrace their responsibilities by recognising that their voice mattered, and engage in constructive dialogue, listen actively, and seek common grounds.
The Rector urged them to foster peace and unity by celebrating diversity, promoting unity, and working towards a united society.
He advised them to drive development by harnessing their skills, knowledge, and innovation to tackle Ghana’s challenges.
Mr. Okyere urged Ghanaians to engage in respectful discourse, tolerate different opinions and uphold democratic values in the lead to the December 7 Elections.
He advised the graduating students to use their knowledge to uplift others, create opportunities and inspire positive transformation.
