Sunyani, Nov. 28, GNA – Mr Guggisberg Asirifi-Young, the Bono Regional Director of the Electoral Commission (EC) has advised political parties to endeavour to use appropriate and laid down procedures to register and seek redress for election grievances.

He said the EC had put in place structures at the various offices for complaints and therefore asked all election stakeholders to capitalise on that and channel their grievances through those procedures.

In interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, Mr Asirifi-Young said though the region had received some election materials, and it was yet to take delivery of the Biometric Verification Machines and other election devices for inwards distribution to the district and municipal levels.

He said the EC in the region was set for the conduct of the December 7, polls, and he was optimistic that with the support and cooperation of the stakeholders, the election would be conducted peacefully and successfully in the region.

Meanwhile, representatives of the various political parties in the region thronged the Regional Police Headquarters in Sunyani on Tuesday November 26, 2024, as the EC presented some of the election materials to the police for safe keeping.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) some of the political parties said they were satisfied with the electoral process so far, and hoped the EC would continue to remain open in the conduct of the General Election.

Mr Henry Osei Karikari, the Bono Regional Research Officer of the New Patriotic Party told the GNA they detected certain minor printing errors on some of the election materials and notified the EC for corrections.

However, Mr Peter Suaka, the Deputy Bono Regional Secretary for the National Democratic Congress said the party was satisfied with the sorting of the election materials, and expressed the hope that the EC would forward them to the various constituencies for the December 7 polls to commence on time.

The GNA learnt the Police have since sent the Election materials to the Sunyani West District Police Command at Odomase for safe keeping.
