Accra, Nov. 21, GNA – Nii Adjei Tawiah, Municipal Chief Executive, Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly, says the Assembly would put in place a robust maintenance culture for the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) equipment presented to them by government.

He said the equipment, which was to empower the Assembly with the tools and resources needed to enhance road networks within the municipality, would be handled with care to support various development projects within the municipality.

Nii Tawiah gave the assurance at the formal inauguration of the equipment presented to the Assembly by the government.

The equipment include, one grader, one back hole, one water tanker, two tipper trucks and three concrete mixers.

He said drivers and operators assigned to manage the equipment were trained to operate and manage them, saying no one would use the equipment for any work unless they were authorized to do so.

“The DRIP Coordinator as well as other personnel will make sure that everything is documented and recorded so that as soon as there is a problem we will be able to identify where it is coming from and then sort it out.”

He noted that “If they are handled carefully, within about a year the sort of development that will have taken place within the municipality will be unmeasured. So we are going to work hard to have them always in good shape.”

The MCE noted that the equipment would go a long way to help the Assembly to complete most of its infrastructure projects on time.

“There are places we need to work on but up until now without these machines we have not been able to do anything about it.”

Some of the projects include the Osu beachfront, the Nii Amugi Cluster of Schools in Adabraka, the Osu Police Station, assuring that the equipment would be moved immediately to these projects sites to continue the works.

“There are other places too that we are considering, like the graphic road and some other pockets of places. We are not like some of the rural Assemblies where lots of work needs to be done, but we also need them to complement our efforts.”

He commended the government for the initiative, saying that most Assemblies in the past have had to struggle to put some resources together to get such equipment to work hence the intervention would go a long way to solve most of the problems in the districts.
