Kpetoe (V/R), Nov. 20, GNA – Mr. Christian Ahiawodzi, Agotime-Ziope District Director for National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) says a key indicator of democracy and good governance in the developed world is credible elections.
He, however, said elections in most developing countries, especially Africa, have not been the best since they bring untold hardship, stress, violence and wanton destruction of life and property of the people.
Mr. Ahiawodzi said this during a parliamentary dialogue organised by the Commission for parliamentary candidates in the Agotime-Ziope constituency.
He said recognizing the critical roles of citizens in the democratic process, the NCCE instituted the Parliamentary Candidates’ Dialogue as a platform for interaction at the constituency level
The Director said the Dialogue was an avenue for candidates to articulate their vision and policies and engage with the constituents on issues of national concern.
Mr. John Tefe of the National Democratic Party and Mr. Kentle Agbobli of the New Patriotic Party participated in the dialogue.
Mr. Tefe promised to establish a printing press in the area, when giving the nod to reduce the cost of instructional materials and to enhance quality education.
He also promised tourism in the area by constructing Kente hotel to attract more tourists to the area
Mr. Agbobli asked the electorate to give him their votes to represent them so he could establish technical and vocational schools in the area to open the area to development and employment.
