Chris Arthur unveils vision for Agona West at NCCE Dialogue

By James Esuon

Agona Swedru (C/R), Nov 26, GNA – The Agona West Constituency Parliamentary Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Chris Jojo Arhin Arthur, has outlined his vision to the constituents in the areas of education, health, job creation, sanitation, roads and many more.

He said if the people give him the nod on December 7, to become their Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, he will execute his vision in the various sectors outlined to improve the socio-economic status of the people.

Mr Arthur was speaking at a Parliamentary dialogue organised by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) for the three parliamentary candidates to justify easons why the people of Agona West must give them their mandate to represent them in parliament after December 7, 2024.

However, Mrs Cynthia Mamle Morrison, incumbent MP, now an Independent Parliamentary Candidate, and Mrs Ernestina Ofori Dangbey , National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate, failed to turn up.

Later, the dialogue was nearly marred by the supporters of opposition NDC led by Mr Frank Yeboah, the former Presiding Member of Agona West Municipal Assembly, when they suddenly entered the Parish Hall where the dialogue was ongoing and ordered the NCCE Director to grant them audience to speak on behalf of their candidate who did not turn up.

The NCCE Director refused with the reason that the dialogue was meant for only candidates to outline their visions to the constituents to give them the reason to be voted for to become the MP.

The explanation did not go down well with the NDC supporters and they started manhandling the NCCE Director and the police had to whisk him away.

The NPP candidate, continued afterwards and revealed his plans on sanitation; saying his vision was to collaborate with the Zoomlion Company to establish a recycling treatment plant at Agona West to resolve the waste management problem of the Municipal Assembly, which had long dissipated its finances.

Mr Arthur said the Assembly had been battling with control of the huge waste being dumped at the final disposal site since it inception. It would therefore be appropriate to install the plant for economic gains and healthy environment.

On education, Mr Arthur said he plan to institute educational fund that would motivate teachers, especially those who would be posted outside Agona Swedru to make life a little easy for them.

He said the encroachment on Swedru School of Business (SWESBUS) lands was a huge task to resolve and if he get the nod, part of the MPs Common fund would be used to build a wall around the school.

He would also assist Nyakrom Secondary Technical school to enter into agriculture to produce more food to feed the students.

On roads, Mr Arthur said Swedru town roads had seen improvement, which had enhanced free flow of vehicular movement to ensure economic development in the Municipality.

He said the only problem facing the movement of transportation of goods and services was the road linking Winneba-Junction to Akim Oda trunk road but fortunately government had awarded it on contract and currently work was progressing steadily.

On health, Mr Arthur said if given the nod, he would lobby for the upgrading of Bobikuma Health centre into a poly clinic to cater for the masses in that enclave to help ease the pressure on Agona Swedru Municipal hospital.

Earlier, in his welcoming address, Mr Sekyi Sam, NCCE Director for Agona West, called for peaceful and violence free election in December, adding that Ghana’s democracy had come to stay and urged Ghanaians to embrace it for a better future.
