Techiman (BE/R) Nov. 14, GNA – The Bono East Regional House of Chiefs has lauded the commitment and passion of the Bono East Regional Minister, Mr Kwasi Adu-Gyan, towards the holistic development of the region.

Accordingly, the 19 paramount chiefs of the House conferred a chieftaincy title “Sompahene” which literally means “good servant” on Mr Adu-Gyan, hoping that the title would inspire him to do more to bring the development of the region to the next level.

“Mr Adu-Gyan’s exemplary leadership and commitment towards development has earned him the traditional title,” Nana Owusu Sakyi, the President of the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs, stated at a short ceremony held in Techiman.

Describing the Regional Minister as an embodiment of peace and a peace maker, Nana Sakyi, also the Paramount Chief of the Bassa Traditional Area commended Mr Adu-Gyan for his instrumental role towards strengthening the prevailing peace of the region.

Hitherto, he said perennial chieftaincy disputes and land boundary litigations threatened the peace of the region and added that with the support and instrumentality of the regional minister, those issues had been brought under control.

“It is therefore better to honour deserving people while they are still alive,” he stated and urged the regional minister to do more for a deepened peace in the region.

On his part, Mr Adu-Gyan said he was highly elated about the honour, and added he was hopeful that the House of Chiefs would continue to cooperate in conflict resolution.

As the embodiment of the people, he said the roles of the chiefs and queens towards a peaceful Election 2024 and the holistic development of the region could not be overemphasised.

He said the government had achieved a lot in the areas of education, agriculture, and infrastructure development, and was ready to do more to improve the socio-economic livelihoods of the people.

The House later presented a kente cloth, native sandals and stool and a citation of honour to the Regional Minister.
