Ashaiman, Nov. 20, GNA – Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, the Ashaiman Area Head of the Church of Pentecost (COP), has cautioned political party activists to be mindful of their words.
Apostle Kumi-Larbi explained that being mindful of the words used on political platforms and during campaigning would help preserve the country’s peace and prevent outbreaks of violence.
He said this when the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) held a “Parliamentary Candidates’ Dialogue” for the four candidates contesting the Ashaiman constituency seat.
“Let’s be mindful of words, as the meaning is with the people, and they have the right to interpret it to their understanding,” he stressed.
He noted that even though they may not mean any evil through their communication, decoding of the words was the sole right of the people who may interpret it wrongly and incite them into violent acts.
Apostle Kumi-Larbi reminded the electorates, especially political parties faithful, that “we have one nation and a common destiny,” therefore they must debate ideas instead of attacking each other.
He further urged residents of Ashiaman not to vote based on colours but rather should analyse the various policies and interventions of the parties to decide on who to vote for.
He said democracy was good for all Ghanaians and therefore called on the public to continually pray for the country in accordance with Jeremiah 29:7, which commands the people to seek the welfare of the city and pray for it as their welfare is within the welfare of the state.
Apostle Kumi-Larbi siad over the years, every election came with all forms of threats, but God always saw the country through, noting however that stakeholders must make a conscious effort for Ghana to have a peaceful general election this year.
“One wonders why people want to rule us but rather cause mayhem to get that position. Who will they rule when that happens?” he questioned.
