Awadada Agbesi Awusu II calls for unity to promote successful festival

Keta (VR), Nov 2, GNA – Togbi Agbeshie Awusu II, the ‘Awadada’ of Anlo State in the Volta Region has called on the citizens of Anlo to prioritise peace and unity during the 2024 Hogbetsotso festival and beyond for development to thrive. 

He said without peace and unity, many communities would never develop, and all should embrace togetherness to foster the growth of Anloland.  

Awadada made the call during this year’s Anlo Hogbetsotso health walk organised by the central planning committee and Jubilee Radio at Keta and urged all the 36 States of Anlo to unite for development.  

“No divided kingdom can rise and move forward, this is another period and opportunity for both young and old to reconcile and come together in peace for the progress of our kingdom,” he stated. 

He stated that the festivity period was also used to teach and inculcate into the younger generations the true story of how the great grandfathers escaped under the ruling of Togbi ‘Agokorli’ of Nortsey in Togo to the present place and other traditions, culture, and norms of Anlo States. 

Awadada further charged Anlo citizens to showcase the best Ewe local dishes which include the “Amadetsi and Aborbitadi” among others to the visitors in order to promote the area to the world. 

“Yes, we also use the season to promote our cultural and traditions through various drumming, songs, dressing code, and other recreational and tourism area in the Anloland.” 

He further appealed to various political parties to engage in a clean campaign devoid of derogatory languages for peace to reign before, during and after the 2024 general elections. 

Other institutions such as the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Ghana Health Service, Ambulance Service, the Electoral Commission among others also used the opportunity and interacted with the participant during the event. 

The 2024 Hogbetsotso health walk which commenced from premises of Jubilee Radio through the principal streets of Keta and ended at Keta Palace Beach Resort was attended by thousands of youth from the all the 36 States of Anlo and beyond.  

The health walk was also partnered by MTN Ghana and Amegashie family of Royal beach resort at Keta.
