Agbogbla(V/R), Nov. 01, GNA – The Agbogbla D/A Basic School in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region is struggling to provide quality education due to crippling challenges.
Students and teachers face unbearable heat, shortage of teachers and a severe lack of educational materials.
Mr. Dortsu Wisdom, the school’s acting headmaster, painted a dire picture of the situation.
“Excessive heat disrupts teaching and learning. We urgently need fans to create a conducive environment,” he said.
He also highlighted the scarcity of textbooks, exercise books, and computers, hindering academic progress.
Mr. Wisdom lamented that the school’s infrastructure is equally worrisome.
“Broken roofing sheets force teachers and students to halt classes during rainfall, as water floods the classrooms. We desperately need new roofing sheets to ensure uninterrupted learning,” he appealed.
Despite these challenges, students and staff remain resilient.
Mr. Dortsu called on corporate Ghana to support the school with essential resources.
“We need fans, textbooks, exercise books, and computers to enhance teaching and learning experiences, shaping the future of our students.”
Lesta Princess, a Form 2 pupil, with an aspiration to become a medical doctor, expressed frustration about the absence of Science and Creative Arts and Design teachers since the start of the first term.
“I have to study on my own, which affects my understanding and performance,” she lamented.
She called on the Ghana Education Service (GES) to urgently resolve the teacher deficit situation in the school to enable them to achieve good results in the upcoming Basic Education Certificate Examination.
The students and staff of Agbogbla D/A Basic School await assistance to create a conducive learning environment.
