89th Ghana Open Golf Championship scheduled for November 13th

Accra, Nov. 6, GNA -The 89th Ghana Open Golf Championship has been scheduled for November 13-16, 2024, at the Royal Golf Cup in Kumasi.

The three-day event would also herald Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Silver Jubilee Celebration.

About 250 golfers from Ghana and the rest of Africa would be participating in this year’s championship.

The participating countries includes Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Togo, Canada, Philippines, United States of America among others.

Golfers would be competing for laurels in the following categories, Professional, Championship Men & Ladies, Handicap Men & Ladies, Support Men & Ladies and Seniors.

Mr. Leonard Kwaku Okyere, the President of the Ghana Golf Association (GGA) thanked his HRM Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for hosting this year’s tournament.

He said, “I am very much excited to have HRM Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for hosting this prestigious tournament”.

“This tournament would test the golfing prowess of all Golfers; we have witnessed significant changes on the golfing landscape since we took over the reins of administration in 2023.”

“It is our wish to grow the sport to potential PGA standards in the near future.”

Mr. Solomon Allotey, General Secretary of GGA said he was delighted that the association would host the championship again.

He commended the team for a yeoman’s job and called on corporate Ghana to help promote the sport.
