At the 40th anniversary to celebrate the farmer’s day at Mwanduanu on the theme: “Building climate resilient agriculture for sustainable food security”, Mr Fuseini Yakubu Batong, the Sissala East Municipal Chief Executive, said the theme underscored the urgency of strengthening farming practices in the face of climate change.

He indicated said the Sissala East partnerships with other development partners were transforming the agriculture landscape, notable being the Savannah Agriculture Value Chain Development Programme (SADEP), which provided 1000 farmers in eleven communities with subsidies and essential inputs.

In addition, some 1,200 farmers, mostly women, received training to enhance their capacities in farming.

Other interventions were the Savannah investment programme, the Ghana Agriculture and Agribusiness Platform (Ghaap), the Community Livelihood Improvement Project (CLIP) and the USAID RING II.

Mr Salifu Mahama, the Director of the Department of Agriculture, called for support for farmers with the resources, infrastructure, and knowledge they need. “Together, we can build an agriculture sector that is robust, inclusive, and sustainable for future generations”, he said.

The first runner-up went to Yussif Alidu Ambra from Kong, with the second runner-up position going to Mr Richard Bommie Fuowie from Nankpawie. They both took home a motorcycle with a knapsack sprayer, wellington boot, piece of cloth, cutlass and urea fertilizer.
