14th African Games: AU appoints Ghana’s Reks Brobby to serve on technical committee

Accra, Nov. 3, GNA – The Sports Advisory Board of the African Union (AU) has appointed former Ghanaian Olympian Reks Brobby to serve on the newly reconstituted Technical Committee (TCAG) for the 14th African Games, which will be hosted by Egypt in 2027. 

Dr. Decius Chipande, Maj. Gen. Ahmed Nasser, Madam Angela Martins, Sid Ahmed Selmi, Dr Samuel Ogbondeminu, Mr. Zenon Kabamba Representative, Mr. James Akama, and Mr. Stanley Mutoya have also been selected to the Technical Committee.   

Mr Brobby was the Deputy Chief Operating Officer for the 13th African Games Local Organising Committee, which Ghana successfully hosted in March 2024. 

He played a crucial role in the day-to-day activities during the two-week mega sporting events which racked impressive viewership from around the world. 

His appointment, signed by Dr. Decius Chipande, AUSC Coordinator, was dated October 21, 2024.   

The constituted TCAG held their first meeting on Friday November 1, via zoom and would hold their first physical meeting in Addis Ababa from November 20 to 22, 2024.
