WR Women’s group walk in appreciation of Affirmative Action Act

Effia (WR), Oct. 16, GNA-Some Women groups in the Western Region walked and showcased placards expressing their appreciation to the President for the passage of the Affirmative Action Law.

The Women, mobilised through Advocates and Trainers for Children and Women’s Advancement and Rights, by Bantu walked amidst brass band music and wielded placards with inspiring inscriptions to thank Nana Akufo-Addo for the Law.

Madam Ekua Ansah Eshun, who led the group to present the Appreciation notes to the Western Region Coordinating Council said the passage must follow with an effective implementation plan with the needed resources.

She said the passage was a landmark legislation prompting gender equality and Women empowerment.

Madam Ansah Eshun said, “To ensure the Act’s transformative potential, we urge the government to establish clear timeliness, milestones and performance indicators, provide the financial resources for Capacity Building, training and establish independent review assessment of implementation.

The Affirmative action act is expected to facilitate and usually address aspect of strategic gender needs of all females.
