Accra, Oct 30, GNA – The Supreme Court has thrown out Speaker’s application challenging its injunction on the four Parliamentary seats declared vacant.
The apex court, after listening to various arguments of the parties in the matter, held that the application was without any merit and same is ‘refused.’
Earlier, the Court overruled an objection seeking a recusal of a panel member during the hearing.
Mr Thaddeus Sory, who represented the Speaker of Parliament, held that Justice Ernest Yao Gaewu was a former Parliamentary Candidate for the New Patriotic Party hence could not be part of the panel.
The five member panel held that the matter before it was a constitutional issue and same was not based on political parties.
The Supreme Court held further that there were other panel members who formerly belonged to the National Democratic Congress and the Peoples National Convention.
