The Flower Community Ghana Spreads Hope with Roses for Cancer

Accra, Oct. 15, GNA-The Flower Community Ghana, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting sustainable gardening, environmental conservation, and community engagement, has once again shown its commitment to giving back to society.

As part of their 5th Annual Plants and Flowers Fair, to be held in partnership with the Center for Climate Change and Sustainability Studies, the organization extended a heartfelt gesture to the women at the Oncology Unit of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital through the “Roses for Cancer” initiative.

The event, which took place on Monday, brought together members of The Flower Community Ghana together with some key partners to make a cash donation to help some of the women purchase breast prostheses.

They also donated a variety of general products and gave a special gift; a rose for each patient.

This Rose Flower gesture was more than symbolic; it was a message to these brave individuals that they are not alone in their fight against breast cancer.

The roses, a universal symbol of love and resilience, were given to remind them that their journey does not have to be one they walk alone.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Yaw Agyemang Boafo, Convener of The Flower Community Ghana, said, “We believe that flowers have a unique ability to heal and uplift the spirit. Through this initiative, we wanted to bring joy to the women at Korle-Bu, reminding them that they are not alone in their fight.”

The donation, organized in collaboration with the Pink for Africa Foundation, a non-profit founded by a breast cancer survivor, was met with appreciation and gratitude.

“This support means the world to us. It’s a reminder that there are people out there who care deeply about our journey,” said one of the patients at the Oncology Unit.

The “Roses for Cancer” donation was made possible through the generous support of several partners namely Knoxxi Health (a Mobile Health Application), Smino Gh, MGL Naturals, Delly’s Juice, and Opoku & Opoku Flower Farms and Kor.le.Kour.

The Flower Community GH lauded these organizations for their commitment to the cause and vital contributions, which made the initiative a reality, adding that the support underscored the power of community in creating positive change.

The Flower Community Ghana has been a beacon of environmental stewardship, hosting the Annual Plants and Flowers Fair for five years, where they showcase the beauty and benefits of sustainable gardening.

This year, they decided to add a philanthropic element to the event to mark their 5 years anniversary and to create a heartwarming and memorable experience for everyone involved.

The Founder of The Flower Community Gh, Madam Matilda Abruquah, urged plant enthusiasts, environmental advocates, and the public to participate in the upcoming fair at the University of Ghana from November 29th to December 1st, 2024.

Attendees can expect a vibrant display of plants, flowers, and an opportunity to learn more about sustainable gardening practices.

With their continued dedication to social causes, The Flower Community GH plans to expand similar initiatives, using the universal language of flowers to spread love, kindness, and hope across communities.
