Sunyani, Oct.18, GNA – The Sunyani Area of the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) Ladies Association has sensitised market women in the Sunyani Municipality on the best way of using, preserving and conserving energy.

Ms Irene Akyaa Yeboah Arthur, the Sunyani Area President of the NEDCo Ladies explained the sensitisation formed part of activities to mark the 2024 Customer Service Celebration of the NEDCo on the theme “NEDCo: your source of reliable power supply”.

In an interview with the media in Sunyani on the side-lines of the exercise, she commended the market women for making themselves for the sensitisation and urged them to go back to and apply the acquired knowledge to bring about positive change in their homes and workplaces.

She also advised them to help the NEDCo to control illegal power connections which were impeding operations of the company by endeavouring to report suspected cases to the NEDCo.

That would enable the company to provide efficient and high-quality electricity services, she stated.

Mr Michael Baena, a Senior Technician Engineer at NEDCo, who also spoke to the media, expressed concern about poor wiring systems in homes and shops, misuse of power and the use of obsolete gadgets.

He said the use of obsolete gadgets contributed to high consumption of electricity and urged the public to use energy conservation gadgets and appliances, and advised the public to always ensure that they put off their electrical appliances before they left home.

Mr Baena also urged the market women to contact the NEDCo office whenever they needed services or encountered challenges with power.

Nana Aboaa Boahemaa, the President of the Sunyani Market Women Association, expressed gratitude to NEDCo Ladies for the sensitization, saying it had enlightened them on the judicious use of power.

She promised that the participants would also go back and sensitize their colleagues for the exercise to benefit the majority of the traders.
