Inchaban (W/R), Oct. 06, GNA – The Sekondi Area of the Church of Pentecost (CoP) has launched the “Agent of Peace” campaign, to encourage the members to become agents of peace before, during and after this year’s Election.

The campaign, which aimed to seek peace during the elections was held on the theme: “Seek Peace and pursue it” (Psalm 34:14), and was attended by various political parties, Assembly members, security personnel, traditional leaders, some youth groups, and members of the church.

Apostle ADP James Tetteh, the Sekondi Area Head of the Church of Pentecost, said God had been faithful and gracious to the country in many areas and reminded all stakeholders of the need to safeguard the peace Ghana was enjoying, which was a collective responsibility.

He acknowledged how the CoP was recognised for its peace-building initiatives and promised that the church would continue to position itself as a moral voice in the country.

He said the campaign was designed to encourage Ghanaians to engage in respectful and constructive dialogue rather than divisive rhetoric.

Deaconess Nana Kofi Abuna V, the Paramount Chief of Essipon, said peace was more than the absence of conflict, adding that it required daily efforts, to foster empathy and unity.

Nana Kofi Abuna V also urged other peace-loving institutions to join the campaign, ensuring that the message of peace spread across all sectors of the Ghanaian society.

She also emphasised the importance of maintaining order, with the peacefulness of the elections being consequential to the existence and safety of a people.
