Accra, Oct. 17, GNA – Some 55 models have been shortlisted for this year’s “Rhythms On Da Runway” event, scheduled for November 30 at the Grand Arena, Accra International Conference Centre.
The male and female candidates made the cut out of 250 participants who turned up for audition at the African Regent Hotel in Accra.
“Rhythms On Da Runway”, organised by Nineteen57 Events, would, among other things, offer young talents the opportunity to take their careers a notch higher.
Kofi Okyere Darko, the curator of the event, said the selected models would be groomed ahead of the main show which would also feature some celebrities.
He expressed satisfaction at the exceptionality displayed by the nominees, adding that it was difficult settling on the finalists after the rigorous casting episode.
Aside from those selected for the show, he said other applicants were encouraged to develop their special talents further.
Nana Asihene, Video Director and Creative Consultant, who doubled as a judge on the show, said the panel was looking out for models poised to project the garments fashion designers would display at the grand occasion.
He said models of specific sizes and shapes and those with some commercial appeal were given priority among the lot.
Mr. Asihene advised the chosen cast to exhibit professionalism, turn up for rehearsals, and attach seriousness to their role when they mount the stage, later next month.
Dionne Slash Gavin, Producer and Choreographer, also urged the models to prepare adequately as they took their career to the next level.
The 2024 edition of “Rhythms On Da Runway” dubbed the “Kente Edition”, would honour some individuals who have contributed immensely to the advancement of the creative arts in Ghana.
Personalities including Agya Koo Nimo, known in private life as Daniel Amponsah, a champion of acoustic guitar Highlife music, and “Adult Music” crooner, Kwabena Kwabena, would be recognised.
