Keta IPDC outdoor series of activities towards peaceful elections

Anloga, (V/R), Oct 29, GNA-The Inter-Party Dialogue Committee for the National Commission for Civic Education (IPDC-NCCE) of Keta Municipal has outdoored activities, which they hope to help promote peace during the upcoming general elections in December. 

During an emergency meeting held by the executive of the IPDC with leaders of the various stakeholder groups, they outlined some programmes they deem necessary to help foster unity among all political actors within the municipal 

On Friday, November 1, 2024, there will be a Peace and Unity Walk to be held in collaboration with the Anlo Hogbetsotsto festival committee from the forecourt of Jubilee Radio through the principal streets of Keta where there will be peace sensitization talks during the climax of the walk at Palace Beach in Keta Central 

The committee planned to hold a seminar for all media professionals and journalists within the Keta and Anloga Districts including political communicators on the best way to broadcast and publish politically related stories devoid of hate speech and malinformation.  

This seminar will be held on 4th November 2024 at the Victory Chapel, Keta. 

On 6th November 2024, a debate will be organized for all four Parliamentary candidates contesting in the Keta constituency dubbed; parliamentary candidate debate, a platform they hope to allow the candidates to propagate their manifesto to the people to make informed choices. 

The committee plans to organize games for all political parties, faith-based groups and other concerned groups to engage in football and volleyball games as a way of fostering unity towards the elections, these fun games are slated to be held at Abor on 17th November. 

Mama Ketor IV, of Anloga, Deputy Chairperson of Keta IPDC, assured the public of their commitment to building a peaceful community  

“We are highly committed to making sure we have an election without any issues in our area here, violence has no discrimination so all of us must embrace activity to achieve peace,” Mama assured 

Madam Lina Bensah, Director of Keta NCCE also called on the political actors and other stakeholders to get involved in the  

The committee planned to visit all Senior High schools in the area to engage all first-time voters on to best ways to cast votes, a plan they believe will reduce the rate of rejected ballot papers, they also planned to visit churches, health centres, markets and other places of gathering to talk to residents on peaceful elections, how to cast votes and how to vote based on issues devoid of monetisation and its related activities. 

The meeting was attended by Mr Roger Avorgbedor, Keta Electoral Commission returning officer, Sariki Garba Hashinu, Muslim Representatives, Mr Nyonator Prince representing Keta NPP, Madam Kudoda Cherita, chairperson of People Living with Disability, DSP Adu Boateng, Rev. Wisdom Edziah for the local council of churches and other stakeholders 

This committee was inaugurated in September 2024 under the patronage of the National Commission for Civic Education with the mandate to be responsible for promoting peace before, during and after the December general elections
