Accra, Oct. 3, GNA – Mr. Francis Asenso-Boakye, Minister of Roads and Highways, has reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to completing all ongoing road projects in the Greater Accra Region and commencing new ones.

He said that improving the country’s road infrastructure was a key priority for the government, as a better road network would unlock numerous trade and business opportunities.

Mr. Asenso-Boakye made the remarks while inspecting ongoing road projects in the Ga North, Ga East, Ga Central, and Ga West municipalities of the Greater Accra Region.

His first stop was at the 24km rehabilitation project from Junction 3 to Obom Junction in the Ga West Municipality, which is currently 15 per cent complete.

The road project, carried out by Memphis Metropolitan Limited, includes drainage works and surfacing.

The Minister also inspected a two-kilometre rehabilitation project on Nuumo Ntreh Road, which is currently 25 per cent complete, as well as a four-kilometre rehabilitation of the FanMilk Amarmoley Road and its links that stands at 60 per cent progress in the Ga North Municipality.

He also reviewed the construction of 3,000 meters of drainage along the 7Days Asofan Road in Ga North, which was 43 per cent completed.

Mr Asenso-Boakye said that the current government had completed more road projects than previous administrations, driven by its commitment to enhancing free movement and facilitating easier business operations in the country.

“Over the last eight years, a lot of investment has gone into road infrastructure, both paved and unpaved, to improve the riding quality of our roads.

“This included asphalt overlays, construction, gravelling, reconstruction, rehabilitation and partial reconstruction, and was exclusive of certain major road projects which are at various stages of completion across the country,“ he added.

Mr Asenso-Boakye commended the road contractors for their efforts and urged them to expedite the construction process to provide relief to the public.
