Gomoa Fetteh, Oct 17, GNA- The Ghana Association Upstate South Carolina (GAUSC), a social group made up of Ghanaians and friends of Ghana based in the United States of America (USA), has donated educational materials worth GHC 20,000 to the Village of Hope Orphanage at Gomoa-Fetteh in the Central Region.
This initiative aligns with GAUSC’s mission of supporting sustainable development in both Ghana and the United States.
The items donation included school bags, exercise books, notebooks, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, and mathematical sets, and they are intended to provide essential resources for the children’s educational growth.
Mr. Charles Agyeman, a GAUSC representative, who travelled from the US to Ghana to present the items and explained that Village of Hope was chosen due to the significant impact of work of the managers and caregivers in supporting vulnerable children.
Mr. Agyeman used the opportunity to call for more investment in the education sector.
He underlined the vital role education in breaking the cycle of poverty and creating brighter futures for children.
“Every contribution towards improving the quality of education is a step towards a more educated, empowered, and independent Africa,” Mr Agyemang said.
He commended management and caregivers at Village of Hope for their dedication to rescuing and nurturing children in difficult circumstances.
He said: “Your commitment to saving lives and transforming futures is truly inspiring.
“We are deeply moved by your mission to serve humanity and look forward to seeing these students achieve their academic and personal goals.”
Mr. Kwaku Sarkodie, Deputy Managing Director, Village of Hope, received the items on behalf of the orphanage and expressed his outfit’s appreciative thanks to the executives and members of GAUSC.
He said the generous donation received from GAUSC would make real difference in the lives of the children.
Mr. Sarkodie appealed to other philanthropic individuals and organisations to come to the aid of the orphanage, saying, “there’s still more work to be done.
“Many more children out there, and this orphanage needs our help with food, clothing, and education, and we are committed to rescuing and caring for as many as possible.”
