Accra, Oct 25, GNA – The Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) has acknowledged the significant role of Ghanaian women in transforming Ghana’s premium cocoa beans into high-value chocolate products on the global market.

Mr Samuel Dentu, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of GEPA, speaking during a two-day workshop in Accra, said Ghanaian women’s innovation in adding value to Ghana’s cocoa beans into premium chocolates ensured the success of the products on the global market.

The Ghana Export Promotion Authority had made remarkable strides in positioning Ghanaian women in the chocolate industry to take their rightful place on the global market, Mr Dentu said.

He highlighted various interventions the Authority had made in empowering women-led cocoa processing enterprises in the country.

The Deputy CEO of GEPA reiterated the Authority’s commitment to building the capacities of Ghanaian women entrepreneurs to make them competitive on the global market

“Setting competitive export prices has been a persistent issue for many women-led businesses,” Mr Dentu noted.

He, thus, expressed confidence in Ghanaian women entrepreneurs’ ability to make meaningful progress in the chocolate industry, describing them as the future of the chocolate industry.

“To all the women entrepreneurs here today, I want to say that you are the future of Ghana’s chocolate industry. Your perseverance and innovation are key to our success on the global stage.

“We believe in you, and we are committed to helping you overcome every challenge, one step at a time,” Mr Dentu assured.

The workshop was organised by the International Trade Centre (ITC) as part of the SheTrades Commonwealth+ Programme focused on export pricing and logistics, essential tools for overcoming the barriers women-led businesses face in accessing global markets.

The SheTrades Commonwealth+ Programme is being implemented by the ITC and funded by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

It aims to create a gender responsive business ecosystem by supporting women-led businesses in Commonwealth nations.

The participants engaged expert facilitators and resource persons in interactive sessions on ways to ensure effective logistics management and strategic export pricing, designed to enhance their competitiveness on the global market.
